'Bird's Eye-View' 2024
Hot Bed Press Rooftop
I created a show for our feathered friends on the roof, which was a private area only accessible to birds and the occasional human. 'Bird's-eye View' was inspired by the often overlooked and underappreciated aspects of life, particularly pigeons. These birds, once revered for their practical contributions, have fallen out of favour and are often seen as dirty and feral. In response, I am focused on showcasing the empathy and unique beauty of these birds, as well as their intricate relationship with nature and urban environments. I have been screen printing my photos of feral pigeons with mud and black ink on manila envelopes to emphasise the historical significance of carrier pigeons during the World Wars and to underscore the timeless importance of envelopes in communication.
